1. Giving nightstands a new look.
I went Goodwill in the lowcountry (shocker, I know) and found this super cute lamp. It was supposed to go to the antique booth (oops), but I liked it so much that I decided to take another lamp and keep the one I'd found. Well that decision of course lead to the reorganization of both my night stands. Here are the final results.
Both lamps were $3 each at thrift stores and I love them! They add such personality! Just find some fun shades and make them your own!
I love this depression glass container I got from my mom. I use it to hold my Chapstick and other little items. I also added a little saucer that I use for my earrings (sometimes I forget to take them off). The little plates on the right I found at a yard sale and I wanted to hang them on the wall, but didn't have hangers that fit. Soooo, I went online and found a way to hang the without messing up the plate! See below:
This is the back of the plate and what you do is glue a piece of felt or fabric onto the plate with hot glue. Sandwich another piece on top of it, but in between the two piece add a hanging hook. I used some string, but you could use a paper clip, a soda can tab, or whatever will work. They are working great! I love a quick and easy alternative to buying something.
Finally, today was the day I tackled my bra/panty drawer. Yes, we're about to get intimate here, but bare with me (pun intended).
I don't know about you, but when I take off my bras, I usually stuff them in the draw or sling them over a chair - partly because I'm lazy, but mostly because I don't want to have to find room in my stuffed drawer! I went only to find inspiration, but alas I found nothing I was pleased with. But while I was cleaning up, I found some burlap straps that I had found a yard sale and decided, "Hey! This could work!"
I dump all my delicates onto the bed and went to work. This was all I needed:
To take an empty drawer and turn it into this:
I stapled one end of the strap to one side of the drawer, then pulled it tight to the other side and stapled it there. Trimmed the excesses and voila! Instant divider!
The other side is housing my undies that I went through piece by and piece and purged. If you have trouble letting things go like I do, try thinking this: "Would I want to be pulled out a wrecked car wearing this?" I mean I know it's a bit morbid, but seriously! They might have to cut off your clothes. Do you want some tattered panty on when this happens? I know, I weird, but it helped!
The drawer is nice and organized and ready to go. Now onto my sock drawer...
Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you have lots of projects planned for your weekend! Until next time!
